Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair Converts to Catholicism

According to Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has converted to the Catholic faith following a service Friday evening.

As prime minister Blair was a member of the Church of England but was often spotted with his wife and kids at Catholic services. Murphy-O’Connor was quoted as saying, “For a long time he's been a regular worshipper at Mass with his family and in recent months he's been following a program of formation for his reception into full communion. Our prayers are with him, his family and his wife at this joyful moment in their journey of faith together.”

Blair’s wife is Roman Catholic and their children attend Catholic schools.
