NHL Playoffs Schedule Saturday April 17: Alex Ovechkin Looks to Pull Washington Capitals Even with Montreal Canadiens

Just as the #1 seeded San Jose Sharks managed to even their series with the #8 seeded Colorado Avalanche on Friday night Alex Ovechkin hopes to pull his Washington Capitals, the #1 seed in the East, even with the #8 seeded Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

Ovechkin has heard a lot of noise about failing to put a shot on goal in the opening game loss to the Canadiens but on Saturday Montreal will likely see a different animal. The Canadiens did an excellent job in closing space around Ovechkin in the series opener, something they will try to replicate when they take their 1-0 series lead into D.C. tonight.

The Buffalo Sabres jumped to a 1-0 series lead against the Boston Bruins thanks to solid play in the net by Ryan Millar. Buffalo dominated much of the game and held the Bruins at bay but Boston will come out with some intensity on Saturday, not wanting to fall behind two games.

In one of the best games of the opening round the Vancouver Canucks needed overtime to beat the LA Kings and they’ll be hoping for an easier time of it on Saturday when they drop the puck for game two. Both teams had sensational goal play in the opener as well as some heavy hitting on the boards, making this series one of the most entertaining to watch.
