The UK supermarket, Waitrose has reported a 672% increase in carp sales. Waitrose thanks the incoming Polish immigrants, who use the carp for traditional Christmas Eve dinners, for the increase.
The head of the fish department at Watrose has been quoted by “Rzeczpospolita” saying, “I hope this protein-rich fish will soon be staple food in the UK, who now tend to go for the cod or salmon. They may have to change their preferences, as global reserves of salt-water fish are running dry.”
Waitrose buys it’s capr from France and the Netherlands, however that may change as the UK’s first carp-breeding farm has just opened in Devon.
