Jay-Z to Leave his Post as President of Def Jam Records

Shawn Carter, known to the music world simply as Jay-Z, will be leaving his post as president of Def Jam Records after his current contract expires Dec 31.

 

After three years as president Carter felt he wanted to try new things saying in a statement that it was “time for me to take on new challenges.”

 

Carter, along with Damon Dash, created Roc-A-Fella records in 1995 which eventually became a part of the Island Def Jam Music Group.  

 

Over the past ten years Jay-Z has collected six Grammy Awards along the way to becoming the most successful hip-hop entertainer ever with an estimated worth of over $527 million.
