According to the news, a new candidate for Election 2008 has thrown her hat into the campaign race last minute. Former Democratic Representative Cynthia McKinney is now running as a Green Party candidate. She is the same Cynthia McKinney who was ousted after a scuffle with a Washington DC police officer last year. While she represented the Democrats on Capitol Hill in the past, she is now stating the Democrats are just as corrupt as the Republicans, making many enemies with her old party ties.
The big question however is whether or now Clinton and Obama will be threatened by McKinney possibly stealing some of their potential votes. With McKinney being female, she could pose a real threat to the feminists who support Clinton for her gender role in the election. As an African American, she could also attack the potential of Obama.
Polls at USAElectionPolls.com show Clinton at 44% in the CBS News Poll and Obama at 27%, making it pretty uncertain McKinney would be a real threat. However, in the world of politics know one ever knows. The real test will be throughout campaigning to see how much steam McKinney can produce in a short amount of time. With her history of creating drama, there is a good chance she will get an adequate amount of attention. Of course the Green Party has not won a recent election, which also makes politics against McKinney in her quest for Presidency.
