12-Year-Old Girl Lone Survivor in Plane Crash that Kills Michael Klein, CEO of Pacificor

Efforts to evacuate the lone survivor of a small plane crash in a remote area of Panama continue on Wednesday, four days after the aircraft crashed into the mountainous region known as Las Ovejas.

Francesca Lewis, 12, was the only passenger who survived the crash that claimed the lives of Michael Klein, 37, CEO of Pacificor, his 13-year-old daughter Talia, and the pilot, 23, Edwin Lasso.

Klein had taken his daughter and her friend down to Panama on vacation and the three were planning to visit a remote volcano on Sunday when the plane they were in experienced trouble with strong winds.

On Tuesday rescuers located the crash site and found Francesca to be the only survivor. The 12-year-old suffered multiple injuries and hypothermia and has not been evacuated yet due to her condition. She was being administered medical attention at the site while an evacuation plan was being planned for Wednesday.
