Narconon of Georgia, a non 12-step drug rehab program, will host an educational booth at Georgia State Capitol on March 19, 2008, advocating for recovery and drug education through its colorful and descriptive exhibit. The large exhibit will fill the west end of the gold domed Capitol, generating awareness among our decision makers and public, about addiction problems in Georgia and the need for solutions.
Many of the display boards are intended not only to educate lawmakers, but also Georgia kids and teenagers who will be touring the Capitol that day.
The Executive Director of Narconon stated, “Nearly half of the high school seniors in Georgia recently surveyed had tried marijuana and about one third of students in Georgia reported being offered, sold or given an illegal drug on school property within the past year. Over 70,000 Georgia teenagers, between ages of twelve to seventeen reported using an illicit drug within a recent month period. When kids try drugs they don’t realize that with some drugs they can become almost immediately addicted the first time they try it. Our voices need to be louder than the voices of drug pushers in the school yard.”
The exhibit will feature information on methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and crack addiction.
If parents suspect that their child might be on drugs, they can go to http://www.drugsno.com for the signs of most drugs of abuse or call 877-413-3073 for a free brochure.
Narconon is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program which was founded in 1967.
Narconon of Georgia was founded in 2001. While many drug rehab statistics are nebulous, Narconon boasts a 76% success rate (based on a two year follow-up) through a non-12 step drug treatment program. This program provides body detoxification through a sauna and exercise program that helps eliminate or reduce cravings. After the sauna program, the client learns those life skills essential to success in life and the ability to stay clean. They graduate from Narconon with a life plan and continued support to make sure they make it in life.
