Tiger Attack at San Francisco Zoo May Have Been Provoked

The tiger attack that left one man dead and another two seriously injured at the San Francisco Zoo may have been provoked by one of the victims according to the police.

On Christmas day “Tatiana,” a 300-pound Siberian tiger, escaped from its enclosure and killed a 25-year-old man before mauling two more men who were near the exhibit.

A visitor to the zoo on the day of the attack said they witnessed at least one of the men taunting the large cat before the animal pounced. By the time police arrived on the scene one man was already dead and they found the tiger sitting next to a man who had been attacked.

Left with no other choice, the police shot and killed the endangered animal.

The two men who survived the attack were upgraded from serious to stable condition by Wednesday afternoon at San Francisco General Hospital. They suffered bite marks to the head, neck, arms and legs.
