MLB Schedule Sunday April 18: NY Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians, Oakland A’s, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates Looking for Sweeps
One day after Ubaldo Jimenez tossed a no-hitter for the Colorado Rockies and the New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 20 innings baseball has plenty of drama for Sunday as seven teams look to complete sweeps in what has already been a crazy opening month of the season.
The New York Yankees have jumped to a quick start and can finish off a sweep of the Texas Rangers and remain atop the AL East. On Sunday they have Andy Pettitte on the hill and with their offense clicking the Yankees have won three straight.
In Minnesota the Twins have given their fans a lot to cheer about as they top the AL Central and if Carl Pavano can take care of the Kansas City Royals on Sunday that will complete a sweep and push them to an MLB best 10-3.
After a terrible start the Cleveland Indians have won three straight and can move to .500 on the year if they can finish a sweep of the Chicago White Sox.
The Oakland A’s have been a surprise team in the AL West with strong pitching and they can extend their winning streak to four games on Sunday with a win over the dreadful Baltimore Orioles.
Sitting just behind the A’s in the AL West, the Seattle Mariners have won four straight and can wrap up a sweep of the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.
The San Diego Padres have shrugged off a tough series against the Atlanta Braves and have won a pair against the Arizona Diamondbacks and could finish the sweep on Sunday.
Pittsburgh finds themselves in second place in the NL Central, one game behind the St. Louis Cardinals, thanks to a pair of wins over the Cincinnati Reds and can complete the sweep of the series on Sunday.
