NBA Playoffs Schedule Sunday, April 18: Kobe Bryant Leads Los Angeles Lakers Against Kevin Durant and OKC Thunder in Playoff Opener

If Saturday’s NBA playoffs action is any indicator as to how things will go on Sunday then it’s not looking good for the underdog as all four home teams took their series opener with the LeBron James leading the Cavaliers, Joe Johnson leading the Hawks, Carmelo Anthony leading the Nuggets and Paul Pierce leading the Celtics.

Kobe Bryant will look to do the same on Sunday as his number one seeded Los Angeles Lakers host Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder in their best of seven series opener. While Durant was the NBA’s top scorer he’ll need a lot of support if the Thunder are to upset the defending NBA champs and Kobe has a cast that is hungry for a repeat, making things that much tougher for any team in the West.

Dwight Howard is just as hungry as Kobe and he’ll have his Orlando Magic ready when they host the dangerous Charlotte Bobcats on Sunday. The Magic have plenty of playoff experience while the Bobcats are making their first appearance in franchise history. Charlotte will have to figure out how to stop Dwight not just offensively but defensively as well, limiting his rebounds and blocked shots.

In a clash of veteran squads Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion and Jason Kidd have the Dallas Mavericks ready to host Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and the rest of the San Antonio Spurs. While the Mavs are the number two seed this could be a brutal battle between a pair of teams desperate for a run at an NBA title.

A late season surge put Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and the Phoenix Suns in the enviable third seed position as they face a depleted Portland Trail Blazers squad who will be without their leader Brandon Roy. The leadership of Nash and Stoudemire will almost certainly mean the Suns won’t take anything for granted and they would love to knock out the Trail Blazers early.
