HolidayLEDs.com, an online retailer of LED holiday and decorative lighting, will extend its incandescent Christmas light recycling program through January 31, 2008. The program was launched in November and was originally scheduled to end on December 15th.
“When we decided to offer this recycling program we really had no idea what type of response we’d get,” said Philip C. Curtis co-owner of HolidayLEDs.com, “the response has been unbelievable.” HolidayLEDs.com estimates over 250 people participated in the program and that it received well over 1000 sets of old Christmas lights. “We actually received a freight shipment of over 650 pounds of lights from a group in Massachusetts,” Curtis added.
The program was started by HolidayLEDs.com in order to offer its customers and other people interested in recycling an opportunity to recycle their old inefficient Christmas lights. HolidayLEDs.com plans to continue and expand its Christmas light recycling program next year. This year the first 100 participants will receive a free set of LED holiday lights and the second 100 participants will receive a coupon for 10% off any order at HolidayLEDs.com.
