NBA News: Utah Jazz Lose Mehmet Okur for Rest of Season with Torn Achilles Tendon

The Utah Jazz lost their opening game of the NBA playoffs on Saturday and on Sunday they lost their center Mehmet Okur for the rest of the season after learning he would need surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon he suffered against the Denver Nuggets.

Okur suffered tear in the first half of the game as he was driving to the basket. With his right leg slipping Okur’s weight shifted to his left leg, twisting in a strange manner as he fell to the floor.

The injury not only knocks him out of the NBA playoffs but will likely end his chances of playing in the world championships this summer.
