Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards is not pushing his opinion on the issues as much as he is reminding voters that of all the Democrat candidates, he has the best chance of defeating a Republican challenger. His populist speeches are ringing through to much of the nation, despite his current third place in recent Democrat primary polls.
Results recently posted at usaelectionpolls.com, Edwards remains embedded in third place wit 24 percent of likely Democrat voters showing support. Barack Obama is leading the party with 33 percent and Hillary Clinton is second with 25 percent. With eight percent of the voters in the recent Strategic Vision poll still undecided, the top three positions can change rapidly when they make their choice.
Nationally, Edwards is languishing in third place and while many of his populist views may resonate with many workers, he may not be supported by as many left-leaning Republicans or independents as he hopes. The next few days will be crucial to his chances in the primary elections following the Iowa Caucus on January 3rd. No president has ever been elected that did not come in the top third in Iowa. With the first presidential primary election taking place in New Hampshire five days after Iowa, Edwards will be jumping between the states pumping up the voters.
On a national level, indications from poll results at PresidentElectionPolls.com,. Democrats have seemed to focus more on their individual candidate's than on their electability. According to the polls, the insinuation is that any of the top three or four candidates can come out a winner in the 2008 general election.
