Benazir Bhutto, Pakistani Opposition Leader, Assassinated at Rally

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, an outspoken critic of current Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, was assassinated on Thursday just seconds before climbing into her car.

The assassination also resulted in at least an additional 20 deaths as the gunman who shot Bhutto then detonated a bomb in the crowded area.

After being shot in the neck and chest Bhutto was rushed to Rawalpindi General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Bhutto had been campaigning for the upcoming Jan 8 elections.
