The Boston Celtics will be without their superstar forward Kevin Garnett for Game 2 of the best of seven playoff series with the Miami Heat after he was handed a suspension for a fight that took place in the closing seconds of Game 1.
Garnett was cited for landing an elbow to the face of Quentin Richardson, he was handed his second technical of the night and ejected from the rest of the game, a game the Celtics held on to win.
Tempers flared when the Celtics Paul Pierce went to the ground near the Heat bench. Garnett went over to look after Pierce and became involved in a verbal exchange with the Miami bench. That became physical when he threw an elbow that hit Richardson, the Miami player that had been standing over Pierce when Garnett arrived.
For his role in the altercation Richardson was fined $25,000 but he was not suspended.
