During presidential elections the top candidates from both parties undergo extreme scrutiny by the media as they look for any skeletons that may be hiding in their closets. In today's electronic age, it is virtually impossible for any candidate to have any semblance of privacy. Even among candidates from the same party, someone is quick to point out any perception of wrongdoing on the part of a top candidate.
In this regard, Hillary Clinton may have a slight electability edge over some of the competition. As one her former senior campaign staffers pointed out about Barack Obama, that if he were to win the Democratic nomination any little thing in his past would become an election issue. As the former first lady with a Republican controlled legislature, Clinton was often the target of smear campaigns in the government.
Her past with Whitewater and many other private sector dealings had been revisited many times. The question remains however, if she wins the nomination is there anything left for the media to dig into? While Obama has taken a slight edge in Iowa and is closing on Clinton in New Hampshire, according to poll results at usaelectionpolls.com, she is still leading the field in national polls.
With wide support from a former president, who happens to be her husband, her past in dealing with his indiscretions with a White House aid can help, or hurt her depending on who is talking at the moment, but there is nothing left to hide on the subject.
