As primary election season gets ever closer, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani may be ready to head to greener pastures to feed at the delegate trough. While the early state primaries get started January 3rd in Iowa, followed five days late in New Hampshire, Giuliani has been touring many of the southern states, drumming up support in the states with more delegates at stake.
He has spent a limited amount of time in Iowa and New Hampshire and is swinging through many of the states that will hold primary elections or caucuses on February 5th. His reason, in baseball terms, likens the election to a nine inning game, pointing out that no candidate has ever won every primary leading up to having enough delegates to win the nomination.
While Giuliani has led national polls throughout the campaign, Mike Huckabee is beginning to make up ground and is expected to win in Iowa. According to poll results at usaelectionpolls.com, Giuliani and Mitt Romney are deadlock on recent polls. After suffering flu-like symptoms while campaigning in Missouri, Giuliani headed back to New York claiming he was feeling fine. His plan to campaign in Missouri is bolstered by the other candidates' lack of action there. Missouri is home for 58 delegates, more than Iowa and New Hampshire combined.
Giuliani also plans to spend time in many of the other states that hold their primaries February 5th, including New York, California and New Jersey, all of which hold a veritable treasure trove of delegates.
