Narconon of Georgia helped to bring holiday spirit to hundreds of Atlanta residents on Christmas Eve.
Narconon staff, joined by representatives from the United Youth Adult Conference (UYAC), Westcare, and community leaders, spent the evening traveling through the city singing Christmas Carols. (For the last several years, Narconon of Georgia, a non 12 step drug rehab program has participated in the Christmas Caroling, along with other community leaders.)
Sunshine Lewis, in charge of Public Affairs for Narconon of Georgia (http://www.drugsno.com/), stated, “Narconon is always happy to bring cheer to everyone in whatever capacity we can. Whether it is helping someone become drug free through our program, educating children on the dangers of drug abuse, or making communities more cheerful during the holiday season, we are here to help.”
After listening to the inspirational carols, residents were given information on drug abuse and drug treatment as well as “The Way to Happiness” which promotes a drug-free life.
Those in attendance, including Michael Langford, President of the United Youth Adult Conference, Georgia State Senator Vincent Fort and former Atlanta City Council Member Derrick Boazman thanked Narconon for educating the children and pointing the way for a drug free life.
Ms. Lewis commented, “Unless we all work together, drugs, violence and crime will become daily occurrences for more and more children, and this must stop.”
Narconon is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program which was founded in 1967.
Narconon of Georgia was founded in 2001. While many drug rehab statistics are nebulous, Narconon boasts a 76% success rate (based on a two year follow-up) through a non-12 step drug treatment program. This program provides body detoxification through a sauna and exercise program that helps eliminate or reduce cravings. After the sauna program, the client learns those life skills essential to success in life and the ability to stay clean. They graduate from Narconon with a life plan and continued support to make sure they make it in life.
