The Dallas Margarita Society will host its first annual DMS “Beach Ball” on Saturday, May 1, benefiting Dallas Children's Charities. The ball is the featured event during a weekend getaway and island excursion to Moody Gardens in Galveston.
The ball will feature award-winning singer/songwriter Kelly McGuire and his band. Jimmie Buffet-style music will highlight the evening. For more information, visit www.dallasmargaritasociety.org/excursions.php
The ball will run from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston. Tickets are $45 per person, $80 per couple, $55 at the door. Other attractions available during the weekend (at extra charge) include the Moody Gardens Golf Course, Aquarium Pyramid, Rainforest Pyramid, IMAX Theatre, Discovery Museum and Schlitterbahn Waterpark.
“The number one reason the Dallas Margarita Society hosts weekend getaways is to provide our guests a memorable experience, with more fun than is allowed in most states,” said Kevin Dahlberg, Director Emeritus and event organizer for the Dallas Margarita Society. “And our other number-one reason is to benefit thousands of underprivileged children in the Dallas/Fort Worth region and to assist organizations that serve them throughout the year.”
The Dallas Margarita Society, Inc., (d.b.a. Dallas Children's Charities) was formed in 1977 when a small group of business acquaintances decided to host a holiday party for associates and friends, and asked their guests to bring Christmas gifts for less fortunate children. DMS/DCC is a non-profit charitable organization whose goals are twofold. The first is to provide disadvantaged Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex children with gifts at Christmas time and the second is to help those community organizations that work directly with underprivileged children throughout the year. Its annual Dallas Margarita Ball has grown over the years and is now believed to be the largest annual invitation only charity black tie gala in the world, with over 11,000 guests, providing gifts for more than 7,000 disadvantaged children each year.
