Keli McGregor, president of the Colorado Rockies, was
found dead Tuesday morning in a Salt Lake City, Utah hotel room.
McGregor was on a business trip to Salt Lake City with
team CEO Charlie Monfort and Executive Vice President Greg Feasel. He was found
dead in his Grand America Hotel room shortly before 9 a.m. The cause of death
is unknown.
“Words cannot describe the level of shock and disbelief
that we all are feeling this morning at the loss of Keli," CEO Charlie
Monfort said in a statement. "Our thoughts, our prayers are with [his
wife] Lori and the entire family as we all try to cope and understand how such
a tragic loss could occur with such a wonderful man."
McGregor, 48, was drafted into the NFL in 1985. He played
for the Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks before joining
the Rockies as the senior director of operations in 1993. McGregor became the Rockies president in
October 2001.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
