Expert handicapper Kris Lazaro of NFLSystems.com has made a prediction on this game.
The Kansas City Chiefs face the New York Jets this Sunday in a game where neither team will be playing for anything. In perhaps one of the worst matchups of the week, in terms of total losses (both teams combine for 23 losses), the author sees a low scoring game where neither team will be in the red zone. Oddsmakers have made the Jets an opening 6.5-point home favorite, with betting action pushing the line to 5.5 points. The total for the game opened at 35 points, with likewise betting action pushing the line down to 34 in most sportsbooks.
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently 4-11 on the season and 6-8-1 against the number. Away from Arrowhead, they are a paltry 2-5, but a surprising 5-2 against the spread. They are coming off a 25-20 home loss to the Detroit Lions, but achieved to cover the 6-point home underdog role. The author sees a good matchup developing for the Chiefs in this game. Although they will be on the road, 6 point is simply too much to give to a struggling team in the New York Jets. Kansas City will do enough on offense to cover the spread, if not upsetting the Jets directly.
