Dwight Howard collected his second straight NBA Defensive Player of the Year honor on Tuesday after becoming the first player in history to lead the league in rebounds and blocks in a season twice.
The Orlando Magic center was dominant on the glass, grabbing 13.2 rebounds and blocking 2.78 shots during the 2009-10 season. Those figures were down slightly from his 2008-09 campaign in which he averaged 13.8 rebounds and 2.92 rebounds.
Howard received 110 of the 122 first-place votes to total 576 points, significantly higher than Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks who finished with 136 points.
