Narconon of Georgia Supports Covenant People's Cathedral

Appears on 11 Alive News With Bishop Quincy Lavelle Carswell

Today Sunshine Lewis, Community Director of Narconon of Georgia, a non traditional drug treatment program, appeared on 11 Alive News in Atlanta, in a broadcast which featured Bishop Quincy Lavelle Carswell and the grand opening of his Covenant Peoples’ Cathedral.

Bishop Carswell, a recovered cocaine addict, explained that 15 years ago today he was voted out of his church because of his drug use.  Through his faith he became drug free and founded another church, called Covenant Peoples Cathedral International.  He had a vision that one day he would build a twelve million dollar cathedral for his newly found church and worked tirelessly to fulfill this vision, expanding his church all the while. Today, that vision became a dream come true with the grand opening of the new Covenant People’s Cathedral at 1700 Covenant Boulevard in Decatur Georgia.

Bishop Carswell is not stopping with the Cathedral.   The vision of his ministry expands to reducing the drug abuse problem in his community.  In partnership with Narconon of Georgia, the Bishop intends to provide drug education within his church.  He says he will visit the night clubs, drugs houses and wherever he needs to go to mentor those with substance abuse issues.

Sunshine mentioned other work that Narconon, (www.drugsno.com) the non 12 step drug treatment center, has done in the city, including acknowledgments that Narconon of Georgia has received from local and national leaders for its work in substance abuse treatment and especially in the area of drug education for kids.

Narconon is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program which was founded in 1967.   Narconon of Georgia was founded in 2001.  While many drug rehab statistics are nebulous, Narconon boasts a 76% success rate (based on a two year follow-up) through a non-12 step drug treatment program.  This program provides body detoxification through a sauna and exercise program that helps eliminate or reduce cravings.  After the sauna program, the client learns those life skills essential to success in life and the ability to stay clean.  They graduate from Narconon with a life plan and continued support to make sure they make it in life.
