Violence Continues to Plague Kenya in Post Election Riots

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in Nairobi, Kenya, enraged with what they have called a fraudulent election that handed President Mwai Kibaki a second term in office after narrowly defeating opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Shortly after the results were announced on Sunday supporters of Odinga took to the street and began rioting, claiming Kibaki stole an election that had been marked by violence and inaccuracies.

Since the announcement of Kibaki’s victory more than 100 protesters have been killed by Kenyan police who have said they have orders to shoot to kill.

Despite the heavy violence protesters have continued to pour onto the streets in support of Odinga who is now trying to organize a march. The route of the march would end at Uhuru Park where more than 1 million Kenyans could once again find resistance from police and military.
