The Oranienbaum palace estate restoration is expected to be completed two years ahead of scheduled, by 2013. The palace is located near St. Petersburg, was built in the beginning of the 18th century by Prince Alexander Menshikov.

The restoration work is also expected to end up costing only 50% of the forecasted price which was given before the economic downfall began. The Director of the project met financial pledges for the work done in 2009, but needs $17 million each year for the next 4 years in order to complete work on the project.

The General Director of the Peterhof and Oranienbaum Palace Estate Museums dismissed rumors that the palace will be used for government activities. This recently happened with the Konstantin Palace complex which was recently restored and turned into the Russian President’s official residence.
