Hannah Montana Essay Winner a Fraud

A 6-year-old Garland, Texas girl who won airfare for four to Albany, New York to attend the Jan. 9 Hannah Montana concert may be missing the show after it was discovered the essay she submitted turned out to be a lie.

Club Libby Lu, a retailer of clothes and games intended for young girls, sponsored the contest and were touched by the young girl’s essay describing how her father had died in Iraq earlier in the year.

It seems it wasn’t exactly the 6-year-old’s idea to pen the deceitful essay but rather her mother’s. Priscilla Ceballos admitted to organizers that the girl’s father did not die in Iraq and the name that she provided officials with has never existed in the Department of Defense’s records of soldiers dying in Iraq.

Despite admitting the essay was a lie the mother seemed to justify the deception telling the Dallas TV station KDFW, “We did the essay and that's what we did to win. We did whatever we could do to win.”

Now the company is considering taking away the four airline tickets and four tickets to the sold-out show that marks the final night Hannah Montana performs with the Jonas Brothers.
