MLB Schedule Thursday April 22: Red Sox Going for Sweep of Rangers, Yankees Looking for Seventh Straight
The Boston Red Sox might try to keep the Texas Rangers around for another week after taking their second straight from the struggling AL West squad. Boston snapped an ugly five game losing streak on Tuesday and followed that with an extra-inning win on Wednesday and will now go for a sweep of the series on Thursday with Clay Buchholz on the hill.
As the Red Sox continue to try and get back on track the New York Yankees have been dominant, winning six in a row and could sweep their second series in a row with a victory against the Oakland A’s on Thursday. Phil Hughes flirted with a no-hitter on Wednesday and it won’t get any easier for the A’s on Thursday as CC Sabathia takes the mound.
Pitching has been the story of the NL East showdown between the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves. Roy Halladay evened the series at a game apiece on Wednesday with a complete game shutout, besting Tim Hudson who looked solid as well. On Thursday the Phillies will be sending ageless wonder Jamie Moyer to the mound to face Derek Lowe.
