Mike Huckabee Knows How To Cross Party Lines

As Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee learned how to work with a Democrat controlled legislature for the benefit of the state's citizens and is pledging to do the same if he is nominated for president. Some of his detractors claim tax increases in the state during his tenure as well as the number of pardons and sentence commutations make him likely to do the same in the White House.

However, in Iowa, which holds the nation's first caucus January 3, he has surged into the lead with latest American Research Group poll showing him leading with 23 percent of the expected Republican voters on his side. Poll results posted at usaelectionpolls.com show him slightly ahead of Mitt Romney with 26 percent and John McCain with 12 percent.

Polls conducted at usaelectionpolls.com also show how Huckabee would fare against some of the leading Democrat presidential hopefuls on a one-on-one basis, if the general election were held today. A former minister, Huckabee has worked with the conservative Christians in the Republican party while mollifying more liberal democrats on such issues as roads and jobs in his home state. However, he may have upset many of the conservatives with his pardons and commutations.

However, as his competition attempts to use his past history in Arkansas as a negative, many see his ability to work across party lines as a trait that has been lacking in Washington, especially in the White House and believe that Huckabee can be provide a unifying voice in the nation's capital politics.
