Fred Thompson Continues To Struggle In 2008 Iowa Caucus Polls

Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson has had the odds against him this election. Though experienced as a former senator, his career as an actor has been the only thing voters have been drawn by. There was also the negativity from his late entrance as a presidential candidate causing him to falter. This created a rise in comedians such as Jay Leno to feed their late night comedy routines, but not much more. Polls on sites such as usaelectionpolls.com as well as presidentelectionpolls.com show Thompson struggling to even rise above the teen percentages. The December national averages as reported by USA today show a 14.5% while CBS News shows a 7.0%. The two polls in the news at this time are Iowa and New Hampshire.

Thompson hits a 10.2% in the 2008 Iowa caucus polls as he struggles in New Hampshire with a 3.2%.

Miscellaneous polls read Thompson as being favored more in the Southern states at 12.8% while he strains for voter approval in the northeastern states. Between a late run, focus as an actor and controversial ties to abortion support as Thompson claims to be prolife, Thompson may be better off in Hollywood than in the White house. Strong support in favor of the defense of marriage act and concern over border protection instead of immigration reform may not be enough for voters to go by. With strong the strong leads of candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Thompson it seems is simply fighting a losing battle. Not giving up when you are down is admirable in most cases but with the election it seems why should he even continue his struggle? He can always take his electoral experience and apply it to the next hit presidential television show.
