Former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani was admitted to a hospital while campaigning in Missouri this month. He was experiencing flu like symptoms that were becoming worse over time. Giulianai was released after an over night stay with a clean bill of health. This may worry some of Giuliani’s supporters as he has had past treatment for prostate cancer back in 2000. Fear of a stumbling illness may make some voters wary, though strong polls percentages show Giuliani at the top of his game.
Polls on usaelectionpolls.com as well as presidentelectionpolls.com show Giuliani's averages in the national presidential polls for December at 21% from the American Research Group. His top five state averages include New York at 41%, New Jersey at 38%, Ohio at 29%, California at 28% and Pennsylvania at 27%. Giuliani has now slipped in the national polls with McCain ahead of him.
No mediocre numbers here. He is showing favor by voters in the February 5th states at 30.5 compared to lower numbers in the Midwest at 13.8%. The factors of Giuliani’s action plans at the time of Sep. 11th and works with immigration concerns may be what continues to propel Rudy Giuliani to the top of the Republican candidacy. Despite holding a large lead in the national presidential polls for a while, he is now second fiddle to John McCain.
Concerns over his health now and in the past may be simply another headline for the national news. It is however difficult to say how long Giuliani will show such favor as his competition from Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee is growing as numbers from Iowa and New Hampshire show greater support for the competition over Giuliani. The polls will keep us up to date as the race towards the presidential election quickens towards the finish line.
