Beginning his career with Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard and Betty Carter’s Trio, the Baltimore pianist Cyrus Chestnut is a well tuned musician. With his roots in gospel, Chestnut was able to easily grasp the concept of early jazz showing “an orchestral command of the keyboard and a sophisticated sense of swing” according to People Magazine.
See Cyrus Chestnut live with a vocalist, horns and a rhythm section at the Kennedy Center. Chestnut himself will be playing the Hammond B-3 organ mixing his familiar gospel with jazz rhythms.
