Barack Obama has won round one as the Illinois senator and Democratic presidential hopeful easily took Iowa with 38 percent of the vote in the state’s caucuses on Thursday night.
Heading into Thursday several polls had Obama running neck and neck with Hillary Clinton and John Edwards but by the end of the night the only battle was for second place.
Enjoying a surge in support, Edwards edged Clinton with 30 percent while the New York senator finished with 29 percent.
