California Braces for Extreme Weather as Rain, Snow and Wind Cripple State

Having already survived the devastating fires that ravaged large chunks of the state, California is now faced with yet another phenomenon, only this time it’s three-fold as residents are in the midst of a weather pattern that has soaked them with rain, buried them with snow, and knocked out electricity with strong winds.

Heavy snow fall coupled with 85 mph winds have paralyzed Northern California while the southern portion of the state has been drenched by heavy rains that could lead to severe mudslides. Coming on the heels of the recent fires that decimated hillsides, several residents have been forced to stack sandbags as their only hope in saving their homes from the rolling mud.

All across the state Californians have been making a mad dash to grocery and hardware stores looking to stock up on food and supplies that could last them for days. With several power lines down and more expected residents have been forced to turn to generators as their only source of power.

Officials have encouraged residents to remain inside through the weekend after issuing warnings of avalanches and blizzards along with flooding.
