Germans Held by Gunmen in Nigeria Freed

Two German nationals kidnapped by gunmen in southeast Nigeria have been freed after being held for six days.

According to a statement from Germany’s foreign minister Guido Westerwelle “Both our German countrymen are safe and sound and again free.” Westerwelle went on to say “They are doing well and are in safe hands in Port Harcourt.”

The men had been swimming in the Imo River in Abia state on April 18 when they were seized by unidentified gunmen.
