FOX decision to Snub Ron Paul Leads to New Hampshire Republican Party Withdrawing Partnership

FOX will be going it alone on Sunday evening after the New Hampshire Republican Party removed itself from the equation following the networks decision to keep Republican presidential hopefuls Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter off the list of GOP candidates appearing on the scheduled forum.

Ron Paul supporters, along with advocates of free speech and a level playing field in the presidential nomination process, have attacked Fox’s decision to limit the forum to John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani. Supporters of Paul have noted that the Texas Congressman finished well ahead of Giuliani in the Iowa caucuses and is leading Thompson in New Hampshire, site of Tuesday’s primary.

In a statement released by Fergus Cullen, Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, reasoning for the organization’s decision to remove itself as partner of Sunday night’s forum clearly addressed the Paul and Hunter subbing,

“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field. Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures. Consistent with that tradition, we believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums.

“This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed.”

“While we understand that FOX News continues to move forward it is with regret, the New Hampshire Republican Party hereby withdraws as a partner in this forum.”

Ron Paul will be a guest on Monday night’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and will be back in New Hampshire after the taping.
