Jana Shearer Abducted and Murdered, Her Body Mutilated, Police Suspect Cannibalism

Jana Shearer, the 21 year old woman who “looked like a skinny Barbie, except with a goofy little grin” (Jennifer Landfair, friend and neighbor) was brutally murdered, her body was found Saturday morning in the 400 block of Princess Place.  Her 25 year old boyfriend Christopher Lee McCuin allegedly abducted her Friday night.  Her body was found mutilated inside the home, her ear was in a boiling pot of water on the stove.  McCuin had recently killed the boyfriend of his estranged wife and broke into a business prior to Shearer’s death.

According to the Smith County Sherrif, McCuin called 911 on Saturday confessing his crimes, telling the dispatcher that he was in his mother’s home boiling Shearer’s body parts.

Authorities found Shearer’s body, filleted and cut into pieces.  They suspect that McCuin had plans to consume the body of Jana Shearer.

Friends say Shearer had planned a “girls’ night” on Friday.  McCuin was seen at the apartment complex waiting for his girlfriend to come home from a day of shopping.  Shearer’s friend, Amy Gage commented, “He came over and talked to us, waiting for Jana to get back.   That’s what’s so weird.  He seemed so nice.”  Gage had seen the couple arguing that evening, but she couldn’t see anything dangerous in the situation.  “He hugged and kissed and played with my kids.  That scares me.  Its like something just snapped.”

The following morning McCuin called Shearer’s mother.  He repeatedly told her that he killed Jana.  Jennifer Landfair was visit at the time and took the phone, “I said, ‘what are you talking about?’  There was no remorse in his voice.  He said, ‘she’s dead.  I killed her, she’s dead…I didn’t believe him.”

Christopher McCuin will be in court today facing a capital murder charge.
