Roger Clemens Files Defamation Suit against Brian McNamee

Roger Clemens filed a defamation suit against former trainer Brian McNamee on Sunday night, less than one month after the pitchers name appeared in George Mitchell’s report on performance enhancing drugs in baseball.

In that report McNamee told Mitchell that he had injected Clemens with drugs on a number of occasions, an allegation that Clemens has vehemently denied. Now Clemens has gone on the offensive, filing a suit against McNamee in Harris County District Court in Texas in which he claims statements made by the trainer were “untrue and defamatory.”

The defamation suit alleges that “Clemens' good reputation has been severely injured. McNamee's false allegations have also caused Clemens to suffer mental anguish, shame, public humiliation and embarrassment.”
