Meredith Emerson Case Linked to John and Irene Bryant Murder

Authorities confirm they are investigating a possible link between the disappearance of Meredith Emerson and the murder of John and Irene Bryant. Emerson went missing New Years day while hiking in North Georgia Mountains with her lab, Ella.

Police believe Gary Michael Hilton was the last person to see 24-year-old Emerson. New evidence has led to Hilton’s arrest. He has been charged with the kidnapping and bodily injury of Emerson.

The GBI now believe Emerson’s case maybe linked to the murder of John Bryant, 84, and his wife Irene Bryant, 80. The elderly couple disappeared in October while hiking in North Carolina Mountains.

Irene’s body was found in November, but her husband’s body has yet to be found. Authorities believe John was kidnapped for information concerning his bank account and social security number. Money was withdrawn from their account by an ATM machine. A person was caught on tape at the ATM but their face was covered by a jacket.

Hilton, 61, was found at a gas station in Atlanta. Blood stained clothes and a piece of a seat belt from Hilton's car was found in a dumpster at another gas station where Hilton used a pay phone. Authorities say he also attempted to use Emerson’s credit card. Hilton is set to appear in court on Monday.
