Narconon of Georgia, a non-12 step drug treatment program, celebrated the New Year at the Underground Atlanta Peach Drop, encouraging people to abstain from drug abuse and live a drug-free life.
Geno Lewis, Community Relations for Narconon of Georgia, spoke to thousands at the gala about the dangers of drug abuse and what can be done to make 2008 a drug-free year.
He was joined by Little Jacob (Latimore), R & B artist and winner of the Most Talented Kid award on the Maury Povich show, who performed and spoke out against drugs. He asked the audience to stop using drugs for their sake and their children’s sake. The message from Gino and Little Jacob was well received by the audience.
“I enjoyed working with Little Jacob, and I think New Years is the right time to speak out against drug abuse.” stated Mr. Lewis. “If we can make resolutions that we will help children grow up in a drug free environment, and keep these resolutions, our communities will be a safer place. Our children depend on us to shine the light on the truth about drugs and show them a better way. At Narconon, we know that while we educate kids about the dangers of drugs, we must teach them basic life skills at the same time. This gives them a more complete recipe on how to live a drug free and prosperous life.”
Narconon of Georgia is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program. Narconon was founded in 1967, and its mission also includes drug education and working with children. While many drug rehab statistics are nebulous, Narconon boasts a 76% success rate (based on a two year follow-up) through a non-12 step drug treatment program. This program provides body detoxification through a sauna and exercise program that helps eliminate or reduce cravings. After the sauna program, the client learns those life skills essential to success in life and the ability to stay clean. They graduate from Narconon with a life plan and continued support to make sure they make it in life.
