Dennis Kucinich’s Journey For Peace In The Presidential Election Of 2008

The self-proclaimed “ peaceful candidate” may have his work cut out for him in a nation bent on war and destruction through fear. Due to terrorist attacks and increasing threats from the Middle East, Americans see little cause for a peace-loving candidate. Voters’ want troops to come home, but they want increases in troop funding and increases in national security.

Candidates have their hands full and Ohio congressman, Dennis Kucinich may have his hands over flowing. Kucinich has hope to some day abolish nuclear weapons and has made verbal efforts to decline further troop funding. He is hopeful in creating a department of peace during his possible presidency. At one time voters would have joined forces to support the cause for global peace, but it seems as war footage and speeches have desensitized the American people we move closer to the chances of world war three.

As our fellow citizens of the 60’s and 70’s wanted peace and love the voters of today want bigger weapons than our nation neighbors. It is hard to see a peaceful end to a world that grows to despise America as a whole. Perhaps this is why polls from CNN shoe Kucinich at a 0-1% voter appeal. Poll sites such as usaelectionpolls.com show CNN results for Kucinich at 2% and ARG results at 1%. With low poll percentages that seem to be going nowhere, Dennis Kucinich may have to support a movement of peace from his home in Ohio instead of the White House.
