Vincent Ogbulafor, chairman of Nigeria’s governing People’s Democratic Party, has been charged with fraud and if found guilty of the accusations he would be forced to resign from his position.
Ogbulafor has denied the charges and has said they are rooted in a power struggle for the party’s leadership position as it continues to search for a candidate for the 2011 presidential election.
The charges leveled against Ogbulafor stem from a contract that awarded $1.5 million in federal funds while he was government minister under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
