Narconon of Georgia, a non-12 step drug treatment program, participated in a Stop the Violence March through the streets of Atlanta.
In cooperation with the Angel’s of Mercy Children’s Foundation, Narconon students and staff marched through downtown Atlanta to demonstrate the sentiments of those grieving and suffering parents who have lost a loved one through drugs and violence.
A horse drawn funeral carriage with a child’s casket signified and brought home the point that too many young lives have been lost. Starting from the Atlanta Board of Education and winding through downtown streets to end on the steps of the Georgia State Capitol, with a police escort, the message was clear: "Stop the Violence. Stop the Drugs."
A well known 10 year old Gospel rap artist, Young Praiser, spoke eloquently on the steps of the State Capitol. He begged the lawmakers and law enforcement to clean up communities so that children could grow up drug free.
The event was well received and made national news. Sunshine Lewis, in charge of Public Affairs for Narconon of Georgia (www.drugsno.com), stated, “Narconon is against the violence and the dangers brought on by drug trafficking and drug abuse. Whether it is helping someone become drug free through our program, educating children on the dangers of drug abuse, or making communities safe for those living there, we all must work for a drug free community.”
Narconon of Georgia is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program. Working with local community leaders and lawmakers to provide drug education and drug rehab are its primary objectives.
