John McCain loves New Hampshire. In 2000 the Arizona senator won the Granite State primary in impressive fashion and eight year’s later he repeated the win with what has been called an insurmountable 37 percent of the vote with nearly 40 percent of the precincts reporting.
McCain, looking to capture the Republican presidential nomination, had an 8 percent advantage over Mitt Romney who will claim his second second-place finish to go along with his first place finish in Wyoming.
Speaking to the Associated Press McCain declared, “We showed the people of this country what a real comeback looks like.” After a fourth place finish in Iowa the senator mounted a strong campaign in New Hampshire and easily handled Romney.
Iowa victor Mike Huckabee is projected to finish third with 12 percent while Rudy Giuliani sits at 9 percent and Ron Paul totals 8 percent.
