Narconon of Georgia, a non-12 step drug rehab program, will host an educational booth at the Girls of Greatness Abstinence & Teen Pregnancy Prevention Conference. The conference will be held at the Hopewell Church Campus on Saturday, February 9, and is in collaboration with Diamond in the Rough Youth Development Program, Inc, and I Am B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L., Inc., two non-profit 501(c)3 organizations committed to building self-esteem and leadership among girls.
The educational booth will educate adolescent girls ages 10-18 on drug abuse, drug prevention and drug facts so that they can make correct decisions in planning their life. Statistics show that teens in every walk of life are exposed to drug and alcohol abuse and that education is the best method of prevention.
The Executive Director of Narconon, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, stated, “When kids try certain drugs they don’t realize that they can become almost immediately addicted. Once addicted, long term use of the drug can cause a girl to lose her beauty, with rotting teeth and the poor health that come with addiction. Add prison to the mix and you have young people with bad health, entangled in hopeless situation, which can eventually lead to death. Obviously, no one intends on such dire consequences from what started as an ill conceived desire to have some fun by taking a drug.
"Through drug education on the severe risks of drug use, we hope to deter kids from ever taking an illegal drug. The problem cannot be ignored. Available drug treatment and education, rather than enforcement ultimately will prove to be the answer to the problem.”
Narconon of Georgia is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program. Working with local community leaders and lawmakers to provide drug education and drug rehab are its primary objectives.
