Milwaukee Brewers radio announcer and baseball icon Bob Uecker is scheduled to undergo heart surgery on Friday.
Uecker is expected to be at a press conference being held by the Brewers at Miller Park on Tuesday at which time he will address the surgery.
One of the most recognized voices in baseball, Uecker has been calling Brewers games for 40 seasons beginning shortly after his Major League career came to an end with the Atlanta Braves in 1967. Uecker’s MLB career began his career with the Milwaukee Braves in 1962, won a title with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964, played with the Phillies and ended his playing days in Atlanta.
In 2003 Uecker was honored with the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award for his work in the announcers’ booth.
