John McCain has translated his impressive New Hampshire primary win into a seven-point lead in the southern battleground state of South Carolina according to an Opinion Dynamics poll.
The poll, taken the night after McCain won New Hampshire, showed the Arizona senator had 25 percent of voter support while former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee held at 18 percent and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was at 17 percent.
South Carolina clearly favors the top three candidates as Fred Thompson showed 9 percent of voter support and both Rudy Giuliani and Ron Paul carried 5 percent.
Among the top issues listed by those surveyed were the economy (17 percent), immigration (16 percent) and the war in Iraq (16 percent).
