Sir Edmund Hillary Dies at Age 88

Nepali Sherpas are lighting butter lamps and offering special prayers in monasteries for the reincarnation of Sir Edmund Hillary.

The first man to climb to the top of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, died at Auckland Hospital of a heart attack.

Sir Edmund Hillary is being mourned worldwide.  Queen Elizabeth II has said she is “very saddened” by his death and the New Zealand prime minister described him as a “colossus” when announcing Hillary’s death.
