MLB Schedule Wednesday April 28: Red Sox Shooting for Sweep of Blue Jays, New York Mets Looking for Seventh Straight Win
After a dismal start to the season the Boston Red Sox can pull even on the year with a win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. The Red Sox pulled out a 2-1 win on Tuesday backed by a solid pitching performance from Clay Buchholz and can complete the sweep today when Jon Lester takes the hill.
The New York Mets know all about poor starts after sitting in the cellar of the NL East earlier this year but a six game winning streak now has them atop the division. Two of those wins came on Tuesday as they swept a double-header and they can complete back-to-back series sweeps with a win today.
Tim Lincecum and Cole Hamels will tangle on Wednesday as the San Francisco Giants host the Philadelphia Phillies. San Fran is sitting even with the San Diego Padres in the NL West while the Phillies are just behind the Mets in the NL East.
In the NL Central the St. Louis Cardinals are threatening to run away from the rest of the pack. While their lead is just 3 ½ games they are the only club in the division with a record above .500 and they can complete a sweep of the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
