Missing Marine Maria Lauterbach May Have Been Found

The body of the missing pregnant Marine, Maria Lauterbach, is believed to have been found on Saturday in the backyard of the primary suspect, although the Onslow County medical examiner has said that no positive identification has been made.

The remains will be sent to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to be tested and compared with dental records.

20 year old Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach disappeared from Camp Lejeune in  December just before she was supposed to testify for her rape charges again Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean.  Lauterbach was eight months pregnant.

CNN reports that Laurean’s wife, Christina contacted Sherriff Ed Brown with a note she found from her husband.  The note said that Lauterbach killed herself and he buried her body.  Laurean disappeared four hours before Christina and Brown met.

In a statement made on Saturday, Brown said “We believe our suspect has fled the state of North Carolina; removed himself as far from here as he can get.”

Blood splatter evident was found inside the suspect’s home and evidence of “an attempted clean-up” which involved painting over the blood.

There is no information on if a child was found with the remains.
