Morgan and Morgan is pleased to announce that attorneys Keith Mitnik and Greg Prysock recently obtained a jury verdict of $46.3 million in Townsend v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., 08-CA-131, Florida Circuit Court (Gainesville). Mr. Mitnik and Mr. Prysock represented Lyantie Townsend in this lawsuit against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., the second-biggest U.S. cigarette maker. Lyantie Townsend was widowed when her husband Frank died from lung cancer in 1995. He had been a smoker since age 13 or 14. The six state court jurors voted unanimously in her favor.
Keith Mitnik joined Morgan & Morgan in 1997 and is a member of the firm’s Orlando office. Since joining the firm, he has handled many high profile cases and has recovered numerous substantial verdicts for his clients. He handles cases in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, civil rights/ defamation, and commercial litigation. Mr. Mitnik is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Florida Bar, and the Florida Justice Association.
Greg Prysock is the managing partner of Morgan and Morgan’s North Florida office and is also a partner in the firm’s Orlando office.
